What astrological advice would you give to people who are looking for a job in this bad economy?

Like what aspects should they look at, what transits to look for.

I mean, hopefully the economy will improve soon. Pluto in Capricorn...could go either way. What astrological advice would you give to people who are looking for a job in this bad economy?
Contemplate the placement and potential of transiting Saturn and Pluto in your natal chart as well as the 6th and 10th houses.

Doing your Saturn (work) is part of why you're here (on Earth). Being in the groove with it tends to attract a great many things, and a good distraction from some of the more trying headlines.

Also, encourage yourself (and others) on their skills and talents - everyone has something to give, this may be the time to bring it forth or back even. What astrological advice would you give to people who are looking for a job in this bad economy?
get your birth chart analyzed to know the right dasha and transit for you to get a job. Wait for your personal auspicious time by preparing for it.

Vedic astrology

I can't speak on astrological terms in this sense. But, believe me, my mind is on the issue daily.

Well, more than one source of income is better than one, which is why I chose to keep my second job. I hate working 7 days a week, but I've always got disposable income.

If you can...go back to school. I work in the real estate industry. Needless to say, I'm lucky to have a job right now. I'm not waiting for hell to break loose, I'm going right back to school next year for my masters.

For people still in undergrad....if you think it could suit you, try education and health care. At least you will always be employed.

For women in child-bearing age.....hold off on having a kid temporarily, until things stabilize. If you want a baby go ahead, but people are losing jobs left to right. It doesn't seem smart right now to build a family.
I think the best advice is to be practical. Get a position u have experience and expertise in since they will be more competitive to get.

In the meantime, get anything that pays decently and u can survive with. it's better than not working and keeping ur stress level low.
I am not a professional astrologer ; but I know this ;; here the signs who would be lucky for work and even some of them will make more money than ever especially those who are born on the first decan of each of those signs ;;; Pisces ;Taurus ; Virgo ; and Scorpio ; because Pluto make a trine to their sun
Take any job

Something is better than nothing

Take into consideration

Benifits vs Pay(lower pay with good benifits)

Travel time /cost vs Pay (cost to upkeep a vehicle vs Bus/Train)

How much is it going to cost YOU for that job.

May need antidepressants and am bit nervous worried advice from people on them or had them PLEASE?

How long do you need them? I haven't seen a psych yet but diagnosise is minor depression How do they affect your body etc??May need antidepressants and am bit nervous worried advice from people on them or had them PLEASE?
I experienced a major life change about 5 years ago, and it led to severe depression; I had never been depressed before in my life! I was sleeping all the time, over-eating, not wanting to leave the house, or be with family and friends. I was diagnosed with 'situational depression,' and prescribed Paxil. While it helped my depression, it also caused me to have a very flat affect.... I couldn't laugh, cry, NOTHING. No emotions! It also caused very strange ' electric jolt'-type sensations that would occur primarily when I was trying to sleep. I eventually stopped taking it with my doctor's help ( never stop taking anti-depressants cold turkey), and have never had a problem since. I worked through the situation that initially led to the depression %26amp; made some good changes in my life. There are many different anti-depressants out there with minimal side effects; talk to your doctor %26amp; good luck :)May need antidepressants and am bit nervous worried advice from people on them or had them PLEASE?
Everyone is different when it comes to how long we need to take medication. The longer we have had depression, the longer we may need to take medication.

If your depression is minor, perhaps only therapy will be necessary. Once you are in therapy, you can discuss medication with your therapist. The both of you can make that decision about you being evaluated for medication.

Antidepressants are very helpful. Try not to worry about taking them. Depending on the severity of depression, antidepressants may give someone new hope that otherwise has long gone. Good Luck
ive just been put on anti depressants. i have to take them nonstop for 6 months and then they will graudally lower the dosage, so id say about a year. i was really nervous and felt better seeing a woman doctor as i felt more confortable. theydont affect me in anyway yet but it all depends on what type you get. there will be a leaflet that tells you all the things that can happen but its just silly stuff like headaches etc.
some meds dont have a side effect and some do it just depends some people only take them a short while and some people have to take them for life but most side effects meds are dry mouth and they make u thirsty alot while some meds make u eat less//// and some make u eat more but for the most part there is no side effects i take prozac and trazodone i have the dry mouth and thirsty alot hope this helps u also check out bipolar.com some times depression is a lighter side of bipolar that site also has a list of medications and there side effects
You don't really need to see a psych for minor depression. Antidepressants are very safe and will make you feel better. You need to take them for about 1 year
Everyone is different. They'll have different side effects with you than they would me.

It depends for how long you'll need them. Normally when you take anti-depressants you have some sort of therapy going with it. They won't 'cure' you, they'll band aid you. Like how the cast doesn't heal the arm, but it'll help shield it while it works on itself.

Good luck and if you feel they aren't working remember that there are plenty of different ones and you should change them if you feel like a zombie.
Dont worry about taking them, the modern day antidepressants have little or no side effects, they work by increasing the serotonin level in the brain. If the first kind you take have no effect within two months you should ask for a different brand. When you have found the right one see how you feel in six months you might want to try to decrease the dose if you feel better. I had to try several types before I found the right one.

Why do people expect legitimate medical advice from Yahoo users?

i mean... seriously....

have none of you ever heard of talking to an actual doctor? Why do people expect legitimate medical advice from Yahoo users?
it's not an expectation in men's health that answers are medical advice... it's people,,, people who need people... i think i hear barbra! Why do people expect legitimate medical advice from Yahoo users?
Most of the questions on here are things that can be answered by laymen. People want to know about masturbation, body building, male supplements and enhancements, they want to know about STDs and all things related to sex. Condoms is another subject that comes up a lot. And of course there's always some little kid too lazy or stupid to use the search function who wants to know if his little man is big enough.

Of course people shouldn't expect real medical advice. And those that do get a ';go see a doctor'; remark like someone else already stated.
i think alot of people come wanting to know they're not alone when it comes to medical problems. it's not so much they don't want to visit the doctor, but there are some simple things you can check on here for such as remedies to soothe a sunburn. but for the most part, i think it's just to know you're not the only person with a certain problem.
First off, some people don't have health insurance and since a doctor's visit can cost up to $150. %26amp; Idk about you but right now, i don't have that money. Some people here have experienced some of the symptoms the person asking the question is experiencing that way they can give some advice. %26amp; some people here ARE actual doctors and their advice CAN be accurate.
Yahoo answers is free.

Yahoo answers does not have to know your face if you have a ';embarrassing'; situation.

Yahoo answers is not to be taken as serious as an actual doctors.

Yahoo answers is also full of people that may know some medicine.

Bottom line:

You are right but it never hurts to ask right?!
What, you mean everything these people say isn't 100% accurate.

There have been a number of answers that help the user try to understand a similar issue to take to a doctor, but you're right, anyone that relies on Y/A for medical advice probably doesn't have health insurance.
A LOT of questions on Yahoo are motivated by people's loneliness, fears and anxieties. Most people probably don't act on the advice and opinions that they receive: they only want to share their concerns, and they hope for friendly responses. (In my opinion.)
I don't think people are looking for medical advice; I think they are looking for opinions and suggestions from people who may have had similar experiences.
Some people pretty much know what they are looking for, and just need a word of advice.........but for an actual diagnosis, yes, I agree........they just need to see a doctor.
i don't think they're looking for legit medical advice,

i think they're just looking to see if anyone else has experienced what they have, if they should be worried or not etc..
get another opinion why the doctor is closed, some people that may have had the condition previously can give you some advice, it's all about making it until your doctor opens.
idk they are crazy

you shouldn't even trust it from a walk-in clinic

you need to go to a real family doctor
People do tend to ask a lot... I guess they figure out of all these people somebodies got to be a doctor and the might get lucky

Or they're morons... Either way
That's why at least 90% of all answers in this section contain the phrase ';go see your doctor.';
I am self conscious.

The next question is,

what makes u think they do not receive a legit answer?
they want to knOW what normal people think is wrong with them
lmao
I don't think they EXPECT it I mean duh.....they are just curious as to what others think........get it..

Why do people ask for medical advice on the internet?

No offense, but I wouldn't trust any of you to make me a sandwich, let alone give me complex medical advice.

Why do people think this is a good idea? Why do people ask for medical advice on the internet?
People do it as some of the advice offered is very good advice but unfortunately a lot of it is junk advice but it is all free advice.

People also do it to avoid a visit to their doctor and some people ask for advice as their doctor has been unable to help them.

Most doctors don't believe in alternative medicine and some people do so they ask questions under Alternative Medicine.

I guess they want to compare notes with someone who has had similar symptoms.

I want to buy a shotgun and would like to hear some advice from people who owned one before?

I was thinking maybe the 535 ATS Slugster. Has anyone ever owned one? are there any problems with it?I want to buy a shotgun and would like to hear some advice from people who owned one before?
Bound's hubby here:

I would recommend a Remington Model 870 pump shotgun. Remington offers two different type of Model 870, the Express and teh WingMaster.

The 870 Express is an affordable entry level five shot, pump action shotgun. It has an alloy receiver, hardwood stock, and a phosphate/parkerized finish. You can generall find this model on sale at Dick's Sporting Goods for about $260 or with a bird barrel and a deer barrel for about $340.

The Model 870 WingMaster is a more traditional five shot, pump action shotgun. It comes with a steel receiver, blued finish and walnut stocks (it's prettier). The Model 870 WingMaster has been around since the early 1950's. It is durable, it is long lasting, it is reliable and it is fool proof. You can buy one (depending u[on grade) starting at about $600.

I have had bad experiences in the past with the Mossberg line. I would not recommend one. The Winchester line that is currently being produced is very limited.

I would recommend a pump shotgun (Remington 870, Browning BPS) over a semi-automatic because of safety versus experience level. Double barrel shotguns are good but limiting. A pump, using the plug, gives you a third shot as back-up that a double barrel just doesn't offer. I think single shot shotguns (unless it's the only thing you can afford) are severly limiting and shouldn't be counted on for hunting.

Good luck.

EDITED TO ADD:

For Randkl: I had a Mossberg Model 144 bolt blow apart on me while shooting standard velocity .22 long rifle ammunition in a match. The bolt handle separated, and the bolt backed half-way out of the receiver. Yes, it may have been a fluke, but it happened ... fortunately there was no physical injury ... but it DID happen! My gunsmith determined that it was a product flaw/quality control issue ... Perhaps this incident was isolated and not indicative of the Mossberg line ... but I consider myself fortunate ... and I do not wish to take another chance on Mossberg's products ... my choice ... I am not imposing it on anyone!

Again, Good luck!I want to buy a shotgun and would like to hear some advice from people who owned one before?
mossberg 500a is a shotgun it has the saftey on the top of the rifle and it good to get at when u nead it fast. Its also a good defence/hunting gun and it pretty inexpenceve, it a 12gage
It depends on what you want to use it for.

Defense?

Hunting?
I have not owned a Mossberg, but their reputation is very good. The gun you mention above should serve you well in most applications. I have been using a Remington 870 Wingmaster since 1979, and the pump is a rugged and reliable friend. If you haven't already, I would suggest you go to a dealer and hold the gun to your shoulder. If it feels like an old friend (it fits you), go with it. You can always trade it later if it disappoints you.
The shotgun I hunt most with is a Remington 1100. It's semi-automatic, so it cost a little more than an 870. My dad and brother both have 870's, and they like them. I have a Mossberg Maverick, but I only use it during turkey season, and only bought it cuz it was cheap. If you want a good gun, go with a Remington.
';I have had bad experiences in the past with the Mossberg line. I would not recommend one. The Winchester line that is currently being produced is very limited.';

------------------

I wish the earlier poster had elaborated on that one. Personally, I've never seen a Mossberg 500 that had a problem that wasn't the shooter's fault.

I currently own seven Mossberg 500's including two Regals. They work, they last forever, and if they ever break from firing your hundred thousandth shell, it's literally a five minute fix. In fact, there is nothing on the weapon that can't be fixed in five minutes or less.

I currently own one Remington 870. It hasn't been out of the gun cabinet since it went in seven years ago. They're great weapons. They're durable, they work, and they look good. They do have one inherent problem, though. Half their working parts are only servicable by a gunsmith. That means when they *do* break, and all weapons break eventually, expect to spend $75 on what would have been a $5 fix on the Mossberg.

Both have all the addons available that you could hope for. You can set yours up pretty much any way you want.

Me, due to the servicing probs with the Remington, I recommend the Mossberg 500. Since the Remingtons QA and finish has went downhill, I HIGHLY recommend the Mossberg.

As to the 535, there's really no diff between the 500 and the 535 except the 535 can use 3.5'; shells. Trust me....if you ever do shoot one, you probably won't ever shoot another.
The 535 ATS is a good shotgun, and with all the optional barrels, you can use it for hunting about anything you might want or have a good shotgun for home protection. It's patterned on the well proven Mossburg 500 shotgun model which has a reputation for being very reliable, rugged and made to last a lifetime. I've seen many police and military issue Model 500's take abuse that would destroy other shotguns and still perform flawlessly afterword. They would last so long in many instances that they were only replaced because the finish was completely worn off the gun or the stocks had suffered so much damage they couldn't be glued back together again.

With that said I personally still favor the Remington 870 series in a pump gun, simply due to some design differences, but I wouldn't hesitate to use the 535 for hunting or as a duty gun. Through the years I've trained many, many police officers and other agents issued Mossburg shotguns with very few problems of any kind occurring with the weapons. My personal experience shooting and using them has been just as positive too.

I would make sure you spend some time at a gunshop checking out exactly how several shotguns from different makers fit you and how they feel on your shoulder. Variations in stocks, sighting systems and other minor factors can make a big difference in how well it will shoot for you and how happy you might be with it over time. There's nothing worse than buying a new gun and finding out it isn't the gun for you down the road.

Good Luck and i hope this is of help to you.
the mossberg 500 is very reliable and tough and you can get a nice rifled slug barrel very accurate...the only weak link is the plastic safety ...you can order a metal one from brownells ...
Depending on what you are buying it for. The 12 guage pump action mossberg maverick is ideal for home protection. If its home protection make sure you get a normal stock and not the pistol grip. The pistol grip makes it easy for someone to take the gun away from you. For hunting I would go with a remington 12 guage pump.
depends on your experience with guns, also on who will use it apart of you.

IMO the best is a 2-barrel shotgun, 12 gauge. side by side or over/under is the same- depends on your preferences. Excellent both for hunting and home defense, and moreover it is practically fool proof- no chance of missing a shell in a magazine somewhere and ending up with a loaded gun in some kids hands.

For hunting, a 2 barrel is perfect. It will take all loads including hand loaded catridges and not jam. I prefer the 2 trigger version- so I have a choice of slug or shot. And if you can't hit a deer with the first or second slug, then shooting off enough ammo to win WW3 will not help

I'm looking into snakes, I need advice from people who have experience...?

So I hear snakes make pretty neat pets, but I'm not planning on getting one too soon. Still looking into it. Two kinds that I have been looking into are Ball Pythons, and milk snakes. Are those good beginner snakes? What others do you recommend OTHER than corn snakes. How big of a tank would I need for the two I mentioned?

Thanks a lot!I'm looking into snakes, I need advice from people who have experience...?
Both should have a 20 or 30 gallon tank as adults.

Ball pythons are nice snakes, but are notoriously picky eaters, and are somewhat sensitive to humidity levels. I don't really recommend them for beginners.

Milk snakes are easy to care for, and are beautiful snakes. They don't get too large, but in my experience they are feisty little things. With regular handling they should mellow out. They do fine in lower humidity, and I don't think I've ever had one refuse a meal.

Honestly, my favorite snakes for beginners are sand boas or rosy boas. They are hardy, unique, fairly easy to care for, and they don't get that big. Males get around 18 inches and would do fine in a 10 gallon tank, and females get 2-3 feet and would do best in a 20 or 30. They are great and beautiful snakes, and fairly inexpensive. I don't know why people always push the balls and corns and overlook these little guys.I'm looking into snakes, I need advice from people who have experience...?
I have a 6 year old 3 ft ball python and I love him. I keep him in a 32.5 gallon vivarium. I use 2 heating lamps and sponges for humidity. They are very docile and easy to care for. One way that you can make sure you don't get a picky eater, tell the owner of 1 you are considering to feed the ball before you buy it.
King or Milk snakes are so much better then ball pythons because they don't need to eat big rays or rabbits, and they're cheaper. keep in mind that ball pythons are PYTHONS and they can be unperdictable.
Ball python Adults generally do not grow to more than 90-120 cm (3-4 feet) in length,[2] although some specimens have reached 152 cm and even 182 cm (5-6 feet), but this is very rare. [4] Females tend to be slightly bigger than males maturing at an average of 4, 4.5 feet. Males usually average around 3, 3.5 feet. [5]The build is stocky[2] while the head is relatively small. The scales are smooth[4] and both sexes have anal spurs on either side of the vent, although males have larger spurs.[6]

The color pattern is typically black with light brown-green side and dorsal blotches. The belly is a white or cream that may or may not include scattered black markings.[4] However, those in the pet industries have, through selective breeding, developed many morphs: genetic mutations with altered colors and patterns.[7]

[edit] Common names

Royal python, ball python.[2]

The name ball python refers to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened.[8] The name royal python (from the Latin ';regius';) is based in part on the story that Cleopatra supposedly wore the snake around her wrist.

[edit] Geographic range

Found in Africa from Senegal, Mali, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Benin, Niger and Nigeria through Cameroon, Chad and the Central African Republic to Sudan and Uganda. No type locality was given in the original description.[1]

[edit] Habitat

Prefers grasslands, savannahs and sparsely wooded areas.[2]

[edit] Behavior

This terrestrial species is known for its defense strategy that involves coiling into a tight ball when threatened, with its head and neck tucked away in the middle. In this state, it can literally be rolled around. Favored retreats include mammal burrows and other underground hiding places where they also. aestivate.[2]

[edit] Feeding

In the wild, the diet consists mostly of small mammals, such as African soft-furred rats, shrews and striped mice. Younger individuals have also been known to feed on birds. Captives usually do well on domestic rats and mice, either live, pre-killed, or frozen-thawed.[4] The size of the prey item should be equivalent to or slightly larger than the width of the largest part of their body. This python is known for being a picky eater and may not eat for months. While this is not odd, care should be taken to watch that the snake does not experience significant weight loss. [9]

[edit] Reproduction

Oviparous, with anywhere from 3-11 rather large eggs being laid (4-6 being most common).[4] These are incubated by the female underground and hatch after 90 days.[2] Sexual maturity is reached at 12-18 months for males, 24-36 months for females. Age is only one factor in determining sexual maturity and ability to breed -- weight is the second factor. Males should be no less than 900g (2.0 lbs.) to breed, and females should be no less than 1500 g (3.3 lbs.).[4]

[edit] Captivity

Due to their smaller size compared to other pythons and commonly docile temperament, these snakes are bred in captivity and have become popular as pets.[10] Juveniles tend to be more aggressive at first, but typically calm down as they get used to human contact. Wild-caught specimens have greater difficulty adapting to a captive environment, which can result in refusal to feed and parasitic infection. Longevity is 20-40 years, with the oldest captive specimen on record reaching 48 years of age
ball pythons are relatively easy to care for. its like having fish though, they pretty much just look cool and decorate the room, the only difference is you can hold them. they don't do very much. and feeding them can be gruesome.

all snakes get infections and parasites quite easily, so are you willing to take him to an exotic vet or give him shots?

aside from that, the tank size depends on you budget and how big your snake is. i own a 4 ft ball python and he resides in a 40 gallon tank. you have to have a lid that clamps down because they can and will escape. you also need to watch the temperature and humidity, you can buy gauges at any pet store. a ball python's temp should roughly be around 80 degrees and the humidity should be 30-50.

for substrate you can use a number of things, i have used recycled newspaper pellets often.

make sure he has a large enough water dish for him to soak in, he will do this often especially when he needs to shed.

heaters, you will want one that sits on top of the tank (or two depending on how big it is) and one that sticks to the bottom of the tank. you will also need a timer for the lamps so they shut off after 12 hrs.

avoid using a heat rock, they can burn themselves on it.

and lastly you will want something in there he can hide in, like a carved out log. you can get all of these at a pet store.

good luck on choosing your new pet, hope this helped!

*EDIT* oh yes, one more thing.. you will want a separate smaller tank to feed him in, you should NEVER feed him in its own tank, or he will think that every thing that goes in there is food, including your hands.

What is your advice to people who is suffering from anorexia?

Seek medical attention and appropriate counselling basically. What is your advice to people who is suffering from anorexia?
Seek help immediately. You can't trust the mirror, so don't even look at one until you have conquered your problem. It's all about self-image, and if you don't like the way you see yourself then it probably has very little to do with your body and more to do with your self esteem. Get help. • Is it my imagination or is there alot of people looking for suicide advice tonight?

So far I've responded to 4 questions from people regarding suicide and looking for way to do the act.Is it my imagination or is there alot of people looking for suicide advice tonight?
I know there are a lot! I guess there are a lot of unhappy people. These are tough times, %26amp; instead of dealing with it they think they can take the easy way out. That is not the way is goes or the ways of life. God never gives us more then we can handle,so people should deal with it like the rest of america instead of taking the easy way out. It is sad %26amp; i hope those people change their minds..there is a lot life has to offer %26amp; the only way is to live life through the good %26amp; the bad..there is a reason we are all here..so deal with it..people should not say they are going to take their life every time something bad happens or life doesnot go there way, that is what life is. Life is not fair. It is sad that some people are unhappy..I wish them the best %26amp; hope they get the help they so desperately need to get through it %26amp; can eventually enjoy the one %26amp; only life they get, instead of taking it because we do not get a second chance so we should all enjoy what we have left.Is it my imagination or is there alot of people looking for suicide advice tonight?
Well its middle of the week and they have 3 more days to go before a weekend, that makes them feel stressed out. Also Valentine's day is just 10days away, some may think of their past years and feel terrible. Some may be anxious atleast someone they need to care for them.

These are troubled times, credit crunch, life is getting harder economically, they feel void and volatility everywhere, they are not comfortable or happy about what they are doing, that's why.

Well let's start complimenting people around us and soon we will feel better. By the way you are doing a good job, letting people know the value of life! Keep it up!
A lot of people think about it, and never do it. Others think and do.

It's really sad, people need Real Love, and search in all the wrong places....when Jesus can heal all their hurts!

Jesus is Love, and He desires to mend broken hearts.

I KNOW, cause He healed mine :)

I need legal advice on displaying other people's prices on a website?

I have noticed that someone has placed my prices on their website. Next to that he has said that his prices are cheaper than mine. I am trying to do the right thing by everyone and now he has done that. It feels not right to do that. What I am angry about is that he believes that he has the right to display them. Does he have the right? I hope not.I need legal advice on displaying other people's prices on a website?
I believe that he can do it. Your prices are posted for all to see. This is called competition /capitalismI need legal advice on displaying other people's prices on a website?
Generally I don't think he (if the name of your biz is copyrighted) can use your business's name directly for any price comparisons. Because that would be copyright infringement. However if he simply displayed what price you were selling it at, and what price he is selling it at, without the use of your business name or website. It would be perfectly legal.

Any clever people here give me advice on a good CV?

I was told that there is no perfect CV. But for your CV to be most effective, use the kind of CV format that suits you best - chronological, skills-based or combination.Any clever people here give me advice on a good CV?
The purpose of a CV is to get you an interview and on that basis the perfect CV is the one that does.

I agree that an employer does recieve loads of CV's and he or she will always, in their opinion, chosse the best candidate from the CV's that are recieved.

So, put yourself in the employers place.

What is the job that is being advertised?

What are the relevent skills required to perform that job.

What sort of person are they looking for - in terms of personality, experience, qualifications ect

And, are you the person who fits that criteria?

If you are really stuck on your CV you could always email me and I will send you a copy of a very successfiul format.

you can email me as follows:-

    hawkins40@btinternet.com

Just ask if you can have a copy of my CV Construction lesson and I will send it to you.Any clever people here give me advice on a good CV?
When sending a CV it is not about what format suits you best but what format would suit a prospective employer - remember you are writing it for them not for yourself.

It depends what job you are going for - if I was going for say a construction job I would list my qualification first then my experience. If it was for a managerial position I would chronologically list what I have achieved in various roles.

The most important thing to remember is what is most relevant to the perspective employer and how can you make yours stand out from the several hundred he may have for each position.

How many people actually get good advice on here?

I am so sick of asking a question and getting a bunch of retarded answers. Does anyone actually get good advice? or should I stop trying. When I answer questions I only answer if I actually know something...not just guessing or writing something to be a smart a**.

I don't really ask questions just answer them, but most of the responses I see tend to be genuine attempts to help.

When there are facetious or unhelpful replies, it is often due to the quality of the question. Asking technical questions on items of equipment without mentioning what bit of kit it is; asking for information on everything to do with a topic, writing in slang or txtspeak, aggressively stating ';don't waste my time telling me its X, Y or Z'; at the end of the note, and many many more examples.
I get good answers on almost every question I post, but I usually get lots of useless ones on the same post.

    I answer helpfully most always, but I usually add a little smarta**ness for certain questions like, ';Wud u dat me?';
I do I had a problem and I didn't know what to do. The person answered the same way I was thinking. And it made me go with that.
I only give retarded answers to retarded questions.

What is the percent of people who listen to advice from others?

I think most people who ask for advice will listen. But I believe the percentage of people that actually follow advice is very low, especially if it is contrary to what they believe or want to believe. My experience is most people seeking advice already know what they intend to do and are are looking for people to validate their decisions. What is the percent of people who listen to advice from others?

I'm going to build houses in New Orleans, any advice from people who have done this?

I am going with my UU church to build houses in New Orleans. I'm excited but I want to be prepared emotionally and physically. I know many churches and organizations go down to lend a hand... does anyone have any advice, pragmatic or otherwise, for me?

Many thanks.I'm going to build houses in New Orleans, any advice from people who have done this?
    Thank you for helping!!

You may not be prepared for the scale of the disaster. Katrina was the strongest storm ever recorded to strike North America and it wrecked an area of about 90,000 square miles (larger than Great Britain). The storm killed at least 1600 people, destroyed about 250,000 homes and businesses, plus left more than 500,000 people long-term homeless. New Orleans alone suffeed at least $200 Billion in damage.

In contrast, the recent fires in CA affected an area of about 700 square miles, killed about 7 people, destroyed about 1000 homes, and the total damage was estimated at $1 Billion. I really feel for the people who died or whose homes burned, but the long-term effect on CA will be minimal. It will be years before LA and MS recover from Katrina. You will be in NOLA but try to visit Mississippi. Much of the MS coast still looks like Hiroshima after it was bombed with a nuclear weapon.

To use another comparison, about 200,000 buildings were destroyed in London (a much larger city) by German bombs %26amp; rockets during six years of war (1939 to 1945). Katrina did that to New Orleans in a morning.

Things won't be as physically difficult as you might fear as there has been huge progress in the past two years. You can drink the water, the electricity %26amp; phones work, services like the post office, hospitals, schools, police/fire/EMS are operating, and restaurants, stores %26amp; shopping centers are open.

Municipal services like street cleaning %26amp; trash collection collapsed after Katrina. Those services were fully restored in late 2006 and it is no longer an issue.

Regarding crime, New Orleans isn't even in the top 25 ';most dangerous American cities';: http://money.cnn.com/2006/10/30/real_est鈥?/a>

Just use the same common sense necessary in every major city in the world and there is little chance you will be a victim of anything except a need to visit the gym after you get home.

You don't say when you will be here. New Orleans has mild weather from late October to early May and the city stays green all year most years (rarely freezes and almost never snows). We pay for the mild winters with hot, humid summers. July and August can be especially brutal, so be careful working in the heat if you are here during that time.

You are welcome to write if you need more information.I'm going to build houses in New Orleans, any advice from people who have done this?
If you are coming before Feb dont bring any winter clothing .. none ..

    you'll sweat your @ss off.

.. and thank you for the help
Thanks to you and your UU group for all you do while you are here. We truly appreciate it! Everything Barry said is true, and things are definitely better now, so you won't be getting the worst views of the devastation....but we still have a long way to go.

Check the weather reports for our area before you leave...we do get some cool weather (tonight its in the 40's and some areas will see freezing temps) but, overall our weather is milder than most of the country. Bring insect repellent and work gloves and clothes you don't mind retiring..thanks again!

Why do people offer dangerous advice?

I think what we members of Answers forget is that the forum is NOT made up of informed people but of folks of all ages and skills.

It is more like a bunch of people at a street corner. Go there and ask anyone as they pass what is the best cure for anything. You will get 10 different answers, running all the way from folk lore, old wives tales, household remedies and outright bunk.

However, if the person answering the question offers his/her scholarship in that subject it may be quite good advice.

We have thousands of kids on Answers and it is easy to tell when a 13 year old answers a question. They are just growing up and answer just as their peers do.
Some people go to this forum for many things that they should be asking professionals in an actual appointment for a consultation or treatment. Most of us that do know what we are talking about will refer them to do just that.
i sure hope not. i know what you mean, even in the parenting section you get some real weirdo's. i think they are either crazy or dont care if they hurt someone. you never know there may be a day when someone really is not too bright and listens to one of them.

Im building a system primarily for 3d gaming, but also for school work and such. I cant decide what kind of parts to put in! I dont kno if i should put in an Intel core 2 duo extreme, or an Amd Athlon fx. I was thinking about getting a nividia sli motherboard and 2 GeForce 7950 gx2 dual gpu, or get a high end ati or radeon card. I have built dozens of computers for myself/family/friends.

With the current price wars, there is little to be gained by building yourself. By the time you buy the software, it's more expensive to build than to buy.

If you insist on building, I would go with the Intel Dual Core.

    I prefer ASUS motherboards.

Make sure you get the PCI-E video, it's faster than AGP.
    These are newegg prices currently.

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 $589

    Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 $91

    CORSAIR VALUE SELECT DDR667 1gb 2x512 $93

eVGA Geforce 7900GT $270 after rebate around $250

    Thermaltake Tsunami case $110

    Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM $78

    SAMSUNG 18X DVD卤R DVD Burner With 12X DVD-RAM - OEM $33

Microsoft Windows XP Professional With SP2B 1 Pack - OEM $138

    total:$1532

something like this will last for years and can upgrade anytime

Core 2 Duo is the fastest processor right now :) lol i dont own one but it looks cool
AMD processors historically run cooler than their Intel counterparts. 3D gaming will generate a lot of heat, so go with what you know. Whatever you do, get plenty of cooling power. Consider liquids, or an air conditioned case, they are expensive, but will protect you from the heat monster. The next best thing is a Zalman CPU copper heatsink/fan combo. Use ';arctic silver'; thermal grease when you mount your fan on the CPU. This will reduce the heat even more. Plenty of case fans, and hard drive fans. If all those fans get too noisy, you can reduce the power to them from 12 volts to 7 volts.

    http://www.dslreports.com/faq/9169
doesnt even look like you need expert help ... sounds like you are your self... your good with all the things you got... remember if your gonna put in an ati radeon card.. and its gonna be crossfire... then you have to buy a motherboard enabled with crossfire... you got a good pc on your way... you should put in a intel core 2 duo extremem because it outmarked the amd athlon fx... in benchmarking... remember to get a good load of ram if your gonna go with a crazy system like that.. probably 2 gig or a gig of ram ... (gaming ram...) i advise you to get corsair because they are better... remember to get the fastest one these days... (if your a really of a gamer) the fastest is the corsair pc5200 i think its speed is 1 ghz .... you will have to get a motherboard that supports pc5200 .... good luck... your system excellent for gaming... also remember to get a SATA hard drive.... not a PATA (IDE) because SATA is faster (alot) faster than IDE
Well, it seems you can shell out a lot for your PC. The Core2Duo Extreme and the Athlon FX are the highest-end ranges from their respective manufacturers.

    1. If you're torn between Athlon FX and Core2Duo Extreme, go for the Core2Duo Extreme. But you will have to hunt more for a compatible motherboard. The Asus P5B series motherboards are Core2Duo ready. I don't know about the SLI, though. Anyway, as you are shelling out the maximum for the processor, don't leave the motherboard far behind, get a top-notch one from Asus or MSI, with a lot of meat in it.

    2. Spending too much on the GPU is not advisable since DX10 and Windows Vista are looming large over the horizon. So, go for a mid-level GPU (GeForce, and not Radeon) which won't burn a hole in your pocket. That would suffice for some hard gaming, too. Try to coax yourself out of buying two cards and SLI-ing them. They're really not worth that much.
This is obvious, but triple-check the specs of all of your parts. you don't want to blow up your motherboard or video card with bad memory or power supply.
I'm a big fan of NVidea products by and large, as well as AMD processors. I have Intel stuff, and it's fine, but I believe that AMD is typically cheaper and easier to overclock if that is in your future. I would also consider buying your parts from Newegg.com. I have found that in the past, they are quite reasonable even with shipping included. As for specific parts, I'm sorry. I'm not a 'computer geek' (no offense to anyone intended), and not currently up to date on what is cutting edge.
Defenitly go for the AMD processor, they are compatible with ATI graphics cards which are the best for 3-d gaming.
I always use AMD chips.. get an Athlon 64 X2 dual core.. or FX and dont bother with the SLI thing.. Nvidia will be releasing thier new stuff shortly that will out perform 2 current high end cards.. save your $$ and wait on that part.. intel too much $$ for not as good as AMD.. no thanks.

Just asking so I can give other people this advice but..What is the best way to get rid of bad breath?

First, know where the bad breath comes from. If it is from the mouth, then try and practice superior oral hygiene (regular brushing, flossing and scraping of tongue) and using effective dental products. So if your bad breath is still there, try and consult your dentist because it may be chronic or a sign of something wrong with your health. Whatever the cause, best to find a cure for it quick than wait for the consequences.Just asking so I can give other people this advice but..What is the best way to get rid of bad breath?
the best thing to do is to build up the best defense which is saliva. keeping the mouth hydrated and salivated can keep bad bacteria at minimum, which is the cause of bad breath. having a good program of dental and oral hygiene can keep the mouth clean and healthy. visit you dentist to ask for proper advice and treatments. for more tip in eliminating bad breath visit http://www.oramd.comJust asking so I can give other people this advice but..What is the best way to get rid of bad breath?
clean your teeth regularly, brush your tongue and use a mouthwash
Bad breath is caused often because you haven't brushed and flossed well .If you don't keep teeth and gums free of the bacterial buildup, they'll start to cause odor as the bacteria rot leftover food particles in your mouth. A few seeds of cardamom chewed for a brief while will clear your mouth of bad breath. Chew parsley leaves, which are sure to keep your breath fresh. More useful remedies at http://useinfo5.blogspot.com/
brush teeth and tounge, flossing is good too, you can also try chewing some gum after you smoke (if you're a smoker), drinking a tall glass of water after you eat sometimes gets my food down so i dont taste it when i'm breathing. ALSO sometimes bad breath CAN be a stomach problem. there is also toothpaste out now specifically for bad morning breath.

    hoped that helped.

Either way
    That's why at least 90% of all answers in this section contain the phrase ';go see your doctor.';
    I am self conscious.

    The next question is,

what makes u think they do not receive a legit answer?
they want to knOW what normal people think is wrong with them
    lmao
I don't think they EXPECT it I mean duh.....they are just curious as to what others think........get it..

    ';I have had bad experiences in the past with the Mossberg line. I would not recommend one. The Winchester line that is currently being produced is very limited.';

Get help. Don't wait. What is your advice to people who is suffering from anorexia?

With all the coyote attacks recently in California, I was wondering what advice they give to people who find?

themselves face to face with a coyote. Like with a bear you're supposed to play dead or something. What do you do in the case of a coyote? With all the coyote attacks recently in California, I was wondering what advice they give to people who find?
    I found this article

Don’t leave small children unattended where coyotes are frequently seen or heard. If there are coyote sightings in your area, prepare your children for a possible encounter. Explain the reasons why coyotes live there (habitat/food source/ species adaptability) and what they should do if one approaches them (don’t run, be as big, mean, and loud as possible). By shouting a set phrase such as “go away coyote” when they encounter one, children will inform nearby adults of the coyote’s presence as opposed to a general scream. Demonstrate and rehearse encounter behavior with the children.

Never feed coyotes. Coyotes that are fed by people often lose their fear of humans and develop a territorial attitude that may lead to aggressive behavior. Try to educate your friends and neighbors about the problems associated with feeding coyotes. If you belong to a homeowner’s association or neighborhood watch, bring up the subject during one of the meetings.

Don’t give coyotes access to garbage. Keep garbage can lids on tight by securing them with rope, chain, bungee cords, or weights. Better yet, buy quality garbage cans with clamps or other mechanisms that hold lids on. To prevent tipping, secure the side handles to metal or wooden stakes driven into the ground. Or keep your cans in tight-fitting bins, a shed, or a garage.

Prevent access to fruit and compost. Keep fruit trees fenced, or pick up fruit that falls to the ground. Keep compost piles within a fenced area or securely covered. Cover new compost material with soil or lime to prevent it from smelling. Never include animal matter in your compost; it attracts coyotes. If burying food scraps, cover them with at least 12 inches of soil, and don’t leave any garbage above ground in the area—including the stinky shovel.

Feed dogs and cats indoors. If you must feed your pets outside, do so in the morning or at midday, and pick up food, water bowls, leftovers, and spilled food well before dark every day.

Don’t feed feral cats (domestic cats gone wild). Coyotes prey on these cats as well as any feed you leave out for the feral cats.

Prevent the buildup of feeder foods under bird feeders. Coyotes will eat bird food and are attracted to the many birds and rodents that come to feeders. (See the handout, “Preventing Problems at Bird Feeders” for information on feeder management.)

Keep dogs and cats indoors, especially from dusk to dawn. If left outside at night in an unprotected area, cats and small to mid-size dogs may be killed by coyotes. Pets can be easy prey for coyotes. Being raised by humans leaves them unsuspecting once they leave the safety of your home. If you suspect losing a dog or cat to a coyote, notify your neighbors. Once a coyote finds easy prey it will continually hunt in the area.

Modify the landscape around children’s play areas. Shrubs and trees should be pruned several feet above ground level so coyotes can’t hide in them. Keep deterrents nearby in times of increased sightings. An old hockey stick, broom, or a pile of stones near the play area can help prepare children for an encounter and will remind them of effective encounter behavior.

Build a coyote-proof fence. Coyotes don’t leap fences in a single bound but, like domestic dogs, they grip the top with their front paws and kick themselves upward and over with the back legs. Their tendency to climb will depend on the individual animal and its motivation. A 5-foot woven-wire fence with extenders facing outward at the top of each post should prevent coyotes from climbing over (Fig. 6).

However, all coyotes are excellent diggers, and an effective fence needs to extend at least 8 inches below the surface, or have a galvanized-wire apron that extends out from the fence at least 15 inches (Fig. 6).

Electric fences can also keep coyotes out of an enclosed area (Figs. 7 and 8). Such a fence doesn’t need to be as high as a woven-wire fence because a coyote’s first instinct will be to pass through the wires instead of jumping over them. Digging under

I still think it might be possible to tame though but its important they are not dependant if they are wild and of coarse they are a whole deferent animal then. With all the coyote attacks recently in California, I was wondering what advice they give to people who find?
    Fascinating birdgirl

I come face to face with coyotes on a daily basis and have NEVER had any approach me or become agressive. I carry no weapons and work alone far from civilization. They usually just run from me. A couple have howled at me or barked at me...but that is about it. The danger really just lays with small children and small pets..they are really not a threat to adult humans at all. I fear stray dogs ALOT more than I fear coyotes. . Don't let the media make you think they are out there attacking anyone and everyone. It happens once in a while..but the attacks are going to become more frequent as people continue to encroach on their habitat..they really have no where left to go. There are some precautions to take..which most people here in California do not do: keep small pets indoors, supervise small dogs when they are outside, supervise children while outdoors anytime of day.

What advice do you have for people that have to use the restroom in the middle of class?

    *******READ THIS BEFORE YOU ANSWER**********

In our school, there has been a recent incident and no student is allowed in the hall during class. We have a 5 minute break in between classes. We are not allowed to use passes and we have security cameras and hall guards all around the school. Well, today during Band class I had to pee really really bad and I felt like I would pee my pants. But thankfully I didn't. What advice do you have for people, like me, who have to use the restroom in the middle of class? What advice do you have for people that have to use the restroom in the middle of class?
You do know its illegal NOT to let you go to the toilet? What happened that was so bad you cant use the hallways? What advice do you have for people that have to use the restroom in the middle of class?
go before you get to class
    Go in the flute.

    ';Today, in band class, I.... ';
well to prevent going to the bathroom while the middle of the class simply dont drink water alot!
Stop eating a drinking, I guess. I mean it's ridiculous for anyone to keep you from going to the restroom! Tell your faculty members this can and WILL cause damage, and they are liable to face medical lawsuits.

Any advice please from people who have struggled to put on weight (being an ectomorph)?

If you or anyone you know have struggled to gain weight, please share your story. I am in my mid-20s and I am very underweight. I have always been thin and I do not have an eating disorder. I do not look malnourished or anorexic. Like all ectomorphs, we have a very fast metabolism and it is very difficult to gain weight.

Please share how you successfully gained weight. What did you do to prepare? What to eat, what kind strength training was involved? What is your regiment for a typical week? Did you exercise on your own or did you seek a personal trainer? Have you seen the results, if so, how long did it take? How hard is it to maintain it? Thank you.Any advice please from people who have struggled to put on weight (being an ectomorph)?
Classic ectomorph here. I started out at roughly 140 - 145 lbs at 5' 11'; (I'm male). Very very thin, all the time. And, getting teased and picked on for having the profile of a large straw.

That was 20 years ago. Now, I am roughly 185 - 190 lbs, still 5' 11';, and I'm actually leaner than I was then. I work as a personal trainer and kickboxing instructor; I am also a bodybuilder and powerlifter.

What did I do? Well, unlike others who have natural gifts for fitness, I had to be very smart about eating, training, and resting. Some people don't have to do much to look great; ectomorphs and mesomorphs, on the other hand, have to be extremely smart and take nothing for granted. My strategy consisted of -- figuring out how many calories I need to gain weight, finding the right training program for gaining weight, and doing lots of research on my own on weight gain for naturally skinny people.

There are actually many many people out there like us. However, THEY aren't the ones selling magazines on how to build muscle and gain weight. We often get info from people who never had that problem -- certainly not as severe as you and I.

My advice to you -- stop frustrating yourself by wading through endless literature on weight gaining programs. There is a lot of good info out there, but also just as much -- if not more -- useless info. If you have money saved, spend it on one or two sessions with a licensed dietician and a personal trainer. This combo, together, can give you the best advice on how much to eat, how to train, and all that goes in between. Again, you can't afford to play guessing games when it comes to this. If you do, you'll only frustrate yourself and put off your fitness goals for a LONG time.

My advice, as a certified personal trainer who has been where you are -- for now, do these three things:

    1. Start a food journal. When you see a dietician, she/he will want to see this anyway. This is also good for you. You might be surprised to find out how little you are probably eating.

    2. Figure out your BMR and your daily caloric needs. Chances are, your metabolism is astronomically high, so you will need to eat A LOT to gain weight. But, before you begin shoveling in the food and raising your food budget, figure out the numbers so you know exactly how much you need to eat. Generally, you will need to exceed your daily caloric needs by about 300 - 500 calories.

    3. Start eating calorie dense foods like peanut butter and avocadoes. Add healthy oils to your meals when appropriate. You need extra calories.

That's it. Spend a lot of time doing these things until you can get those sessions with a trainer and a dietician. Don't frustrate yourself any longer. Be smart about what you need to do, then put it into practice. Any questions -- let me know.

Good luck!Any advice please from people who have struggled to put on weight (being an ectomorph)?
What I do is grab a can of your favorite beverage, a pizza, ice cream, and a bag of chips and sit on the couch all weekend and watch some FOOTBALL!!!!
    i am just like you.

    =[
Blood test first. I suggest you consult an endocrinologist to analyze your endocrine functions. Hyperactivity of the thyroid gland is one cause for a person to be ectomorphic.
You ask about gaining weight, then spend half a paragraph asking about training and exercise. Skip the exercise part and you'll gain weight. Works for millions of Americans!

Seriously though, see a doctor first. You might need metabolism managing drugs.

Take Care and God Bless you.Any really fabulous advice for people dealing with insomnia (yes I take a sleeping pill) please no insensitive
meditation and yoga really used to help me relax....how about reading?.......or concentrating on your breathing
i do some really simple meditation kind of stuff. not that buddhist heavy duty thing, but just a relaxing thing in a bath.

check out the meditation society of australia's site. a lot of free downloads and if those aren't enough, life time membership is only seven dollars.
Most nights I am lucky if I get a decent 2 hrs sleep. For the past 10 years or so I have not been able to go to sleep even with the aid of sleeping pills. I was told I had chronic fatigue syndrome which is added to a list of medical problems longer than my blood y arm now! I try to make my bed as comfortable and inviting as possible. Lots of pillows, hot water bottles, a bit of lavender on the pillow.

I try not to eat 30 minutes before bed as this will cause your body to wake up while it is digesting. I have a warm drink, either tea or milk. When I hop in bed, I try to make the room as dark as possible and quiet. Try not to have any distractions in there such as TV, work or reading. If I am not 'asleep' within 20 minutes, get up, read a book or watch TV. When you feel tired again, go back to bed.

It may not always work but occasionally will.

    Have a great day!!!

Kelly R is right, I too suffer from insomnia, to add to her comment ....take a long hot bath with some herbal tea, if you have a health food store near you go visit them, they have great herb mixtures that can really help. a really good one is valerian root, it smells like crap but it works well. also if you are old enough try drinking one or two beers before bed,the hops is also good to induce sleep. I dont take sleeping pills b/c even though some will tell you that they arent addictive, most of them really are, and you can sometimes feel really groggy after waking up.

I hope this helps and good luck~
Since I have no background info on you, here's a list for you to look over...

Cut down or eliminate caffeinated drinks.

No sugar two hours before bedtime.

Take a relaxing bath or shower an hour or two before bedtime (it will relax you, but you won't be sleeping on a wet head).

If you smoke, try to stop an hour before bedtime. The nicotine hypes you up. Brush your teeth and use mouthwash after the last one. The mint makes the cigarrette taste nasty.

Experiment to see if you sleep better in a cool room or a warm room. My husband sleeps like a baby with the air conditioner on and under a ton of blankets.

Use a fan for white noise, even in winter. Just turn it away from you if you don't like the draft.

Use a relaxation CD to fall asleep by. I have an alarm clock with a built in CD player...indian pipe flutes and drums are my favorite.

Turn off the TV and computer a half hour before bed. The lights continue to stimulate your eyes long after you turn them off. Read a book or listen to music. It's also a good time to connect with your loved ones.

If none of these suggestions work, you can talk to your doctor about going to a sleep lab. You may have one of many sleep disorders that can only be diagnosed there. Good luck!
