Does anyone have any advice for people who want to move to las vegas?

I moved from southern CA, lived there for 30yrs. I have a child. The work is great here for my husband %26amp; I. My husband is union IBEW %26amp; they get paid 42.00$ a hour. 40% of the houses are vaccent here. It is a buyers market right now!!!! I would NOT move to Noth Vegas that is were a lot of the crime is!!!! The west side is very nice, or the far east side. The traffic is not much. Barely any smog. Not a bad place. It does get hot in the summer, 4th July we hit 116. Last Jan we didn't get over 44 durring the day. It is windy here. But nice.Does anyone have any advice for people who want to move to las vegas?
I lived there for 9 years- if you have kids DON'T DO IT!!!! If not, try it and have fun. I'm SO over LV, I will never even go back to visit!Does anyone have any advice for people who want to move to las vegas?
Yes - Stay where you are. I moved here from the northeast 3 years ago and I can't wait to go back. I thought commuting from southern CT to Manhattan was a traffic nightmare...then I moved to Vegas, people here just don't know how to drive and they don't care that they don't know how to drive. It's crazy.

If you have kids, you don't want them to go the public schools, it seems like every night on the news, between Sept and June, some dumbass decides to bring a gun on the school grounds, not that it doesn't happen in other places, it just seems it's EVERY DAY here.

I could go on and on but....

I'm moving back east as soon as my lease on my apt is up - I tried it, but Vegas just isn't for me.
Yes, don't do it.
Yea I sure do, If you have an adictive personality this may not be the town for you there are a lot of ways to feed your VICES Drinking Gambleing Women all 24 hours a day.....alsoif you do not like the heat might I suggest at haveing a summer retreat where you can go from june through august 115 = is realy hot sometimes it is still 100 out at midnight ... On the bright side there is lots of great things to do and see here and jobs in the service industry are plenty and if you are a hard worker AND plesant you can make great money. There are a lot of people with bad attitudes working as waiters here I think they probably dont make much. If looking for a job try STATIONCASINOS.COM THEY ARE GROWING FAST
Bring lots of money! There is a lot to do there!
moved here from NJ love it here.

make the move you will be happy
If you are coming here like I did, (just a bag and bus ticket)

then the fastest way to get employment in Las Vegas is being an unarmed guard.

And yes, you have to pay to work here in this town.

Just get an app, pay 90 dollars for a sheriff's card, and go to work.

As for the entertainment goes, it good, but it isn't called Sin City just to fill hotel rooms.

The vice is everywhere here.

Escorts, drinking, and gambling is everywhere you go.

24/7.

If you let it control you, (especially the gambling) you will you hit beyond rock bottom,

It is also hot and dry here in the valley of the meadows.

The best times to vist is during the fall or winter months.

(Oct to Feb.)

It is not the best time to come here on the weekends and definitely NOT the best time to come during the summer, when the mercury is up around 115 to 125 degrees F (.45 to 52 degrees C)

In case you forgot, it is located in the Mojave desert, so you will learn to drink bottled water, dress cool, wear sunscreen, and go out at night.

Other then that, hope your move will be a smooth one.

Sincerely,

Mike
Move to Henderson or boulder city just a short drive from Vegas and a lot like home
Well my advice would be don't!!! I currently live in las vegas and don't like it that well. If you do decide to be very thorough in your decision of where you choose to live.
Move to the Northwest part of the city, very low crime, less traffic, great neighborhoods with all the amenities; short distance to downtown %26amp; the strip; great place to start your own business and be very successful

What advice do you have for people that have to use the restroom in the middle of class?

*******READ THIS BEFORE YOU ANSWER**********

In our school, there has been a recent incident and no student is allowed in the hall during class. We have a 5 minute break in between classes. We are not allowed to use passes and we have security cameras and hall guards all around the school. Well, today during Band class I had to pee really really bad and I felt like I would pee my pants. But thankfully I didn't. What advice do you have for people, like me, who have to use the restroom in the middle of class? What advice do you have for people that have to use the restroom in the middle of class?
You do know its illegal NOT to let you go to the toilet? What happened that was so bad you cant use the hallways? What advice do you have for people that have to use the restroom in the middle of class?
go before you get to class
Go in the flute.

';Today, in band class, I.... ';
well to prevent going to the bathroom while the middle of the class simply dont drink water alot!
Stop eating a drinking, I guess. I mean it's ridiculous for anyone to keep you from going to the restroom! Tell your faculty members this can and WILL cause damage, and they are liable to face medical lawsuits.

Any advice please from people who have struggled to put on weight (being an ectomorph)?

If you or anyone you know have struggled to gain weight, please share your story. I am in my mid-20s and I am very underweight. I have always been thin and I do not have an eating disorder. I do not look malnourished or anorexic. Like all ectomorphs, we have a very fast metabolism and it is very difficult to gain weight.

Please share how you successfully gained weight. What did you do to prepare? What to eat, what kind strength training was involved? What is your regiment for a typical week? Did you exercise on your own or did you seek a personal trainer? Have you seen the results, if so, how long did it take? How hard is it to maintain it? Thank you.Any advice please from people who have struggled to put on weight (being an ectomorph)?
Classic ectomorph here. I started out at roughly 140 - 145 lbs at 5' 11'; (I'm male). Very very thin, all the time. And, getting teased and picked on for having the profile of a large straw.

That was 20 years ago. Now, I am roughly 185 - 190 lbs, still 5' 11';, and I'm actually leaner than I was then. I work as a personal trainer and kickboxing instructor; I am also a bodybuilder and powerlifter.

What did I do? Well, unlike others who have natural gifts for fitness, I had to be very smart about eating, training, and resting. Some people don't have to do much to look great; ectomorphs and mesomorphs, on the other hand, have to be extremely smart and take nothing for granted. My strategy consisted of -- figuring out how many calories I need to gain weight, finding the right training program for gaining weight, and doing lots of research on my own on weight gain for naturally skinny people.

There are actually many many people out there like us. However, THEY aren't the ones selling magazines on how to build muscle and gain weight. We often get info from people who never had that problem -- certainly not as severe as you and I.

My advice to you -- stop frustrating yourself by wading through endless literature on weight gaining programs. There is a lot of good info out there, but also just as much -- if not more -- useless info. If you have money saved, spend it on one or two sessions with a licensed dietician and a personal trainer. This combo, together, can give you the best advice on how much to eat, how to train, and all that goes in between. Again, you can't afford to play guessing games when it comes to this. If you do, you'll only frustrate yourself and put off your fitness goals for a LONG time.

My advice, as a certified personal trainer who has been where you are -- for now, do these three things:

1. Start a food journal. When you see a dietician, she/he will want to see this anyway. This is also good for you. You might be surprised to find out how little you are probably eating.

2. Figure out your BMR and your daily caloric needs. Chances are, your metabolism is astronomically high, so you will need to eat A LOT to gain weight. But, before you begin shoveling in the food and raising your food budget, figure out the numbers so you know exactly how much you need to eat. Generally, you will need to exceed your daily caloric needs by about 300 - 500 calories.

3. Start eating calorie dense foods like peanut butter and avocadoes. Add healthy oils to your meals when appropriate. You need extra calories.

That's it. Spend a lot of time doing these things until you can get those sessions with a trainer and a dietician. Don't frustrate yourself any longer. Be smart about what you need to do, then put it into practice. Any questions -- let me know.

Good luck!Any advice please from people who have struggled to put on weight (being an ectomorph)?
What I do is grab a can of your favorite beverage, a pizza, ice cream, and a bag of chips and sit on the couch all weekend and watch some FOOTBALL!!!!
i am just like you.

=[
Blood test first. I suggest you consult an endocrinologist to analyze your endocrine functions. Hyperactivity of the thyroid gland is one cause for a person to be ectomorphic.
You ask about gaining weight, then spend half a paragraph asking about training and exercise. Skip the exercise part and you'll gain weight. Works for millions of Americans!

Seriously though, see a doctor first. You might need metabolism managing drugs.

meditation and yoga really used to help me relax....how about reading?.......or concentrating on your breathing
i do some really simple meditation kind of stuff. not that buddhist heavy duty thing, but just a relaxing thing in a bath.

check out the meditation society of australia's site. a lot of free downloads and if those aren't enough, life time membership is only seven dollars.
Most nights I am lucky if I get a decent 2 hrs sleep. For the past 10 years or so I have not been able to go to sleep even with the aid of sleeping pills. I was told I had chronic fatigue syndrome which is added to a list of medical problems longer than my blood y arm now! I try to make my bed as comfortable and inviting as possible. Lots of pillows, hot water bottles, a bit of lavender on the pillow.

I try not to eat 30 minutes before bed as this will cause your body to wake up while it is digesting. I have a warm drink, either tea or milk. When I hop in bed, I try to make the room as dark as possible and quiet. Try not to have any distractions in there such as TV, work or reading. If I am not 'asleep' within 20 minutes, get up, read a book or watch TV. When you feel tired again, go back to bed.

It may not always work but occasionally will.

    Have a great day!!!

Kelly R is right, I too suffer from insomnia, to add to her comment ....take a long hot bath with some herbal tea, if you have a health food store near you go visit them, they have great herb mixtures that can really help. a really good one is valerian root, it smells like crap but it works well. also if you are old enough try drinking one or two beers before bed,the hops is also good to induce sleep. I dont take sleeping pills b/c even though some will tell you that they arent addictive, most of them really are, and you can sometimes feel really groggy after waking up.

I hope this helps and good luck~
Since I have no background info on you, here's a list for you to look over...

Cut down or eliminate caffeinated drinks.

No sugar two hours before bedtime.

Take a relaxing bath or shower an hour or two before bedtime (it will relax you, but you won't be sleeping on a wet head).

If you smoke, try to stop an hour before bedtime. The nicotine hypes you up. Brush your teeth and use mouthwash after the last one. The mint makes the cigarrette taste nasty.

Experiment to see if you sleep better in a cool room or a warm room. My husband sleeps like a baby with the air conditioner on and under a ton of blankets.

Use a fan for white noise, even in winter. Just turn it away from you if you don't like the draft.

Use a relaxation CD to fall asleep by. I have an alarm clock with a built in CD player...indian pipe flutes and drums are my favorite.

Turn off the TV and computer a half hour before bed. The lights continue to stimulate your eyes long after you turn them off. Read a book or listen to music. It's also a good time to connect with your loved ones.

If none of these suggestions work, you can talk to your doctor about going to a sleep lab. You may have one of many sleep disorders that can only be diagnosed there. Good luck!

    Blessings

Why do people give advice when they don't understand the situation?

People keep asking when are you going to get married? When we answer that neither of us have money (school debts, credit debts), we still live at home (and we would not want to be married and living with parents), and don't have a chosen career yet, people respond with, ';Thats not good enough!'; and then go into what we should be doing; this even happens when we go to a certain Taco place.

Most of the people are friends and we don't really know how to get them to shut up.

Help. Why do people give advice when they don't understand the situation?
    Hi there,

it doesn't sound like 'advice' to me, it sounds like they are trying to tell you what to do! Why don't you just change the reason why your not marrying to something like, 'we're just waiting', or 'we're too young to get married yet'. Something along them lines. Or be cocky and just say 'I don't see you married?'

ive been with my boyfriend for 6 yrs since i was 17 and they all nag, whens the big day? but i bet if we got engaged they would say we are too young!! just ignore it. yes its annoying as hell but they really mean well. whats the freakin hurry anyways?!

Any good advice for people suffering from pcos ?

do you know of any thing that helps with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome)Any good advice for people suffering from pcos ?
I have PCOS, I found out about it when I was 17 after years of weight problems and irregular periods.

The only thing I found was trying to keep my weight down and eating a low sugar diet.

The weight thing hasn't always been successful but the most important thing I have found is to keep to the low sugar diet. What you have to remember is having PCOS can cause excess weight but can also make it difficult to lose weight, just a vicious circle when you think about it. Having a low sugar diet helps because having PCOS can muck around with insulin and from my own experience my body can't handle sugar and decides to just go straight to my waist. It's typical for a woman with PCOS to have an 'apple' figure.

I am now currently 29 weeks pregnant, which I never thought would happen but there you are, unfortunately since being pregnant I have had a sweeter tooth which isn't good but I'm told having a baby can cure PCOS as people with PCOS has hormone imbalances and having a baby can help to regulate this.

If you're not planning on having children just yet then there are certain contraceptive pills that help so it's worth talking to your GP about it.

Other symptoms of PCOS are greasy skin, excess hair growth and spots.

I hope this helps.Any good advice for people suffering from pcos ?
my sister in law has pcos and through talking to her I have heard a few things that can help with pcos. First lose weight if your over weight, this can help with insulin resistance and help regulate periods in some woman. Follow a low carb diet and eat plenty of fruit and vegeatables along with making sure you drink at least 8 glasses of cold water a day. Exercise help aswell by increasing your metabolism. Agnus castus which is a herbla remedy can also help balance homones and regulate periods. Some woman also recommend using progesterone cream however my sister in law has no experience of this. Good luck
I have PCOS and have been having Accupuncture for a couple of months. For the first time in years I have a regular cycle. Go ahead and give it a try, although make sure you find someone who has had the proper training. I always feel a lot more awake and like I want to eat less after a visit. It sounds really horrid, but it's not! I was also feeling quite depressed when I first went and now feel so much better. Also as previously said, try to lose some weight too.
    SORRY IDK
I read an article yesterday that suggests spiriment tea is good to reduce symptoms of excess hair growth in women that have PCOS. It may also lower the testosterone levels. I am going to try it. It won't hurt anything. Good luck!
Hi heres a few suggestions for you to ty

eat a sensible well ballanced diet with fresh fruit -vegetables - lean meat - nuts - fibre and good fats

    Get some gentle exercise

    drink water

if your over weight try to lose some as excess weight causes more problems

    dont smoke and drink alcohol

start taking folic acid before you try to concieve

there is a couple of medicines that your ob / gyn might precrisbe you these are clomid - to induce ovulation

metformin - this is to regulate insulin as some women with pcos are insulin resistant.

provera - progesterone tablets given to induce a period sometimes before a dose of clomid.

agnus castus - a natural herb that regulates hormones bought from health stores good luck
For me, the best thing, other than metformin and a healthy diet, has been a positive attitude, and educating myself. Take the time to learn and read all that you can. Become an active part of your health care.

I went on metformin, and I eat a low g/i diet. I exercise regularly, and take my vitamins. I talked to my doctor about adding a drug called Byetta, which is a newer diabetes drug and is being prescribed off label (that means not for it's official use) for PCOS. I take time to keep up with ways to treat it, and what other people are having success doing. I know that in February, the New England Journal of Medicine published a new article about using Clomid to help with ovulation and pregnancy being more effective in women with PCOS than metformin alone.

Check out the website soulcysters.com for lots of great information and support from other women with PCOS. And take charge of your care.
    Only advice:STAY POSITIVE ALWAYS.

its easy for everyone to speculate how you may never concieve youll just have to get used to it etc..

But you just stay positive and watch it happen okay so maybe not as soon as others but it will and has for many others that i know some have even fallen pregnant very fast.If you keep your outlook positive and if it doesent happen soon remember it isnt happening for many of us healthy ladies too and you may fall before us.
    lose excess weight
There is so much advice out there it is overwhelming. what seems to be consistent is this:

1a) If you are overweight then you should try to loose weight. It is hard to loose weight with PCOS b/c your body responds differently to food and dieting. Try a low carb diet. Also try either cinnamon tablets or 1 tsp of cinnamon a day. You can even sprincke it over your cereal. Or you can try apple cider vinegar, 2 tbp a day in water or 8oz. of another beverage. Both have been proven to help with insulin resistance which is a major contributor to PCOS. They have similar results to metformin, which is a precription drug for insulin resistance that is being used for PCOS.

1b) If you are not overweight then you may still have insulin resistance. follow the instructions above except there is no reason to loose weight, just try to eat a healthy good carb diet. Definitely use apple cider or cinammon.

    2) Take supplements: good multi-vitamin, B complex, omega fish oils %26amp; NAC.

    3) Herbal supplements: vitex/chasteberry

    4) To reduce testosterone. I've heard that saw palmetto helps and green tea. Don't use saw palmetto if trying to conceive.

    5) Try acupuncture and chinese herbs. Find someone that specializes in gyn/reproductive issues. I'm doing acupuncture and chinese herbs. My acupuncturist was able to put together very specialized herbs for me that address my issues.

    6) Even if you are not trying to conceive I highly recommend this book, The infertility cure.

    7) Don't use birth control pills. It is a temporary fix that actually makes the problem worst in the long-run. I would recommend using metformin. If you need to induce a period then use provera, so that you can menstrate at least every three months. Or try to naturally induce a late period with ginger tea or parsley tea.

    Best of luck.
    I have this condition.

For the mood swings i encounter i take St Johns Wort, Metamorfin made me very depressed it was vile i only took it for 6 weeks and i felt suicidal. I also take Omega 3 everyday this helps with my mood and my skin is so soft!! Plus Multibiotin vitamin tablet.

    Good luck
