Why do people give advice on issue regrading safety when they are guessing?

for example many many unsafe answer here about home wiringWhy do people give advice on issue regrading safety when they are guessing?
Verdugo: People are here for guidence as far as I see. I don't think we are dealing with little ten year olds that don't know anything about touching a wire won't get you shocked. If this is the way you think you should answer a question. Then you go ahead and start giving the same answer to every question. Cause you don't know who is on the other side of the computer. Right? I feel that who ever is going to ask a question beaware of the consequences. If anyone don't know exactly nothing of home power, and don't have a volt meter, then yes I agree. Don't post any questions here on yahoo answers and call an electrician. OH by the way I changed my answer to the previous question on which wire to cut. He really sounded like if he really going to shock himself no matter what he does according to his knowledge. I wanna thank you for pointing that out.

don't touch a thing you fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

the electricity doesn't know what color the wire is

if the last guy did it wrong either wire could kill you

you COULD HAVE REVERSE POLARITY SWITCHED NEUTRALS, SWITCH LOOPS

THERE ARE ENDLESS WAY TO WIRE THAT COULD MAKE THE WHITE , BLACK OR BOTH DANGEROUS

if the last guy did it right either wire could kill you

I am Master electricianWhy do people give advice on issue regrading safety when they are guessing?
It's because it's an anonymous forum and unless you have experience or expert knowledge in a particular field, when you ask a question you have no real way of knowing whether whoever answers your question knows what they're talking about or not. Some of the answers I see are completely off the wall, others are so far from right they'd have to be in an alternate universe to even be considered wrong. Most home wiring is fairly simple, some can get complicated. The most important thing to remember when working on wiring is to shut it off at the source and don't get in over your head.
For some, I think they just want to offer an opinion, perhaps based on a similar experience. For others who have some knowledge or background related to the question, they often have to make some assumptions based on that knowledge, because very often the question doesn't provide enough detail to offer the ultimate solution.
I don't understand it either. Mainly with electrical. I'm an electrician and I have quite a bit of fun answering peoples questions. Some of the responses blow my mind. I don't think people realize that other ones asking a question may take their advice for its face value, which could result in the loss of everything they own or even death in a fire. The world is full of stupid people.
People come for answer not others telling them to call a professional.

I get really annoyed with people just reply back

';go see a doctor';

';go to a vet';

';go to the mechanic';

';call a electrician';
2 points? Many of the questions sem to be either 3 way switch wiring or a dead circuit. Seems safer for them to call a pro.

When I go out drinking I always end up texting inappropriate people. I need advice on how to stop?

I have done everything---erased numbers, given my phone to a friend, left the phone at home, but nothing seems to work. Somehow I always seem to say something I regret. I understand that drinking is at the root of this problem, but its unlikely I'll stop going out on the weekends. Does anyone have advice? Anything that has worked for them?When I go out drinking I always end up texting inappropriate people. I need advice on how to stop?
THe best advice I have is don't drink so much....it makes ppl do stupid things. When I go out drinking I always end up texting inappropriate people. I need advice on how to stop?
well you solved it but i guess you don't want to put action to it!

the root of your problem is how it will be solved! you tried everything else!

maybe don't get drunk!

maybe learn to control your drinking habits!

maybe only go out for 1 or 2 tops!

stop carrying money (don't matter if your a girl you get free drinks anyway) at least i did!

if it is unlikely you stop going of drinking on the weekends then it's unlikely you texting someone something appropriate.

sucks!

try going out on a weekend but don't drink!

Wow that way you can have your cake but no ice cream but you get what you truly want

and that is

to learn to control your drunkenness texting or dialing! or at least making it look appropriate...

or is your goal not to have others call you out on that???

I would re think what you really want!

LOL!

I have a friend who does the same thing,and i myself have. I woke up one morning and looked at my phone and thought OMG what the heck was I thinking!!!

Look at the reason why you are doing it? Is it because youre lonely? or looking for attention? Its not a good feeling when you break it down, that just because you're out, and drinking others arent. And not that you are purposely being rude, its the booze that clouds your judgement.

But just think how would you feel if after your night of drinking, you take someone home and your phone is getting blown up? Its only funny for a minute.

Tell yourself before the next time you go out boozing that you are going to be more mature and responsible and just dont do it!!
haha that's so funny that you asked this question because I do the same thing when I drink... except I drunk dial.

One day when I woke up from a night of drinking, I had outgoing calls to my dentist.. my hairdresser.. and my boss.

LOL.

Advice? Well the other asnwers seemed good. I guess warning people would be the best, but honestly before you start drinking, put your mind set somewhere else besides the phone. Think about someone you like, or something you like to do.

Or maybe try drinking a different alcohol. What do you usually drink? Switch it up, because I know certain alcohol's have a specific affect on me... like when I drink vodka I get angry.
maybe you should warn people before you go out or avoid getting too drunk. If you continue to do things without learning from your mistakes it will continue to happen until you choose to make the difference.
Leave the phone at home when you go out and you know your going to drink. If you need to reach someone in an emergency, there is a phone not far off I'm sure.
I think leaving the phone alone is the root of the problem. Drinking #2
Maybe you need to stop drinking.

I have just turned 18 and I'm thinking about getting a tattoo. Any advice from people who have one?

Take your time and really think about what you want and where you want it! Think about your future (Dont get something on your arms, face, neck thats going to affect a future job ect.) If you go to one place and they are alot cheaper than somewhere else......theres a reason THEY SUCK!!! Don't be cheap, money buys quality in a tattoo!! Hope this helps!I have just turned 18 and I'm thinking about getting a tattoo. Any advice from people who have one?
make sure its somethin u really want.

ask yourself this

';if i get a tattoo, will i still like it in 30 years?';

good luck.

p.s. they are addicting ; )~I have just turned 18 and I'm thinking about getting a tattoo. Any advice from people who have one?
Just make sure you know exactly what you want on your skin for the rest of your life.I had my first tattoo at 19,and had to get it covered up with a bigger tattoo because i didnt think properly about what i wanted...make sure you know the design you want and think about it for a long time before getting one.
Wait till you're 30. Your interests will be more defined by then.

Trust me.
Whatever you choose make sure you won't regret later.
No, don't do it...
Choose your design and where you want it then get advice about good tattoo artists in your area.

It is really important to make sure it is a sterile environment to avoid infection - and don't be afraid to ask how much experience they have.

You don't want to be guinea pig # 1!

(PS: I have heard that apprentice tattooists practice on pigs because the skin texture is similar to humans).

  • What advice can you offer people who are buying into a time-share for a boat?

    Is your advice different if they are thinking of going in with friends?What advice can you offer people who are buying into a time-share for a boat?
    On the up-side, you share all the costs which means you will save a great deal of money.

    Obviously, the more partners you have, the fewer the costs but you also reduce your opportunities to use the boat because you are sharing with more people. It's a catch-22 situation, really.What advice can you offer people who are buying into a time-share for a boat?
    I didn't know they had boat timeshares. But if they are anything like a regular timeshares I wouldn't do it. You will never get your money back out of it. And something inevitably will come up when its your week to use it.
    A common experience is getting frustrated because the boat is not available when you want it. You end up living your life around the shared calendar.

    Any real estate agents have advice for people aspiring to get there license?

    This is the worst market- but if you want to - then just remember to

    pre -qualify your clients by getting in touch with a good lender who can help you know how much they can afford and how good the credit looks this way you won't waste your time with people who have severe credit issues. Network in your area and familiarize yourself to the community you want to sell in. Get your face on your business card and do mailers in an area telling people what their houses will sell for. It will make you sound knowledgable and professional. Its a business - yours, so dress and act professional when meeting clients. Also get those ';up calls'; when you can- because it could very well be your next commission --$$$$ Good luckAny real estate agents have advice for people aspiring to get there license?
    My brother was considering it. Here's what he was advised to keep in mind:

    Real estate is a small business. You'll be very much on your own. Even in a group you'll have to do your own marketing, lead development, follow up.

    Real estate is commission sales. Unless you've got a spouse who's covering the bills, you're going to be hustling and hungry for a while until your name gets known.

    You'd better like to talk to people because you're going to be doing a lot of it.

    Real estate is more than a full time job. Showing houses happens when it's convenient for clients - evenings, weekends. If you have kids, you'd better have a way of having them tended while you're at work.

    Im moving to ireland in a couple of years, any advice from people who live there, any advice at all?

    Im movin soon! Im so excited and i already have a bit of info from people with yahoo answers, you guys have helped me so much and i was wondering if you have more adviceIm moving to ireland in a couple of years, any advice from people who live there, any advice at all?
    Well I wouldn't class a couple of years as ';soon'; but I'm glad you are excited. My advise would be to bring an umbrella and wellingtons because it stops raining for approximately 9 days each year.

    Seriously where are you actually moving to? Ireland is a big enough country, its hard to advise you unless you tell us which town/city/county you are going to be living in. Life in the centre of Dublin is completely different from say Timoleague. In the small towns the Post Office still shuts for lunch and you will find more tractors than cars on the roads some days.

    We are in the depths of a recession here at the moment but hopefully in 2 years time things will have eased.Im moving to ireland in a couple of years, any advice from people who live there, any advice at all?
    I can't believe 'just my opinion' would label all irish people with the people he has encountered, its just not fair... I live in Limerick, and it probably has the worst name any county in Ireland has. I have lived in the city, right before it got 'bad' and am now in the county. I work with foreign people all day long and we get along just fine. In any country your in you are bound to find, ignorant, selfish, and racist people. Its just the way the world is. That does not mean one should not come to Ireland to live. And the main reason why people in Ireland have such a dislike to ' foreigners', is because every second Irish person knows one, and we all know what most of them are up to. They came here while things were going good, In the Celtic Tiger, which we were all as a nation happy to welcome them, most of them worked for much less pay as Irish people would and Irish people felt they were being pushed out because of this. Also they would spend very little here, they were not putting the money back into our economy. Alot of them were and still are sending their wages back home to their families in their countries. And now things have gone bad here, alot of them are gone home. But the ones still here, are claiming benefits and still sending most of that money back home. They are also claiming child benefit here, and in their own countries for their children although their children don't reside here in Ireland with them. That is the reason why you hear Irish people 'giving out' about foreigners. Not me personally as I have no hard feelings towards anyone living in our nation, but I know alot of people that do. Ireland is a lovely place to live, and with the right circle of friends and neighbours you will love living here
    in response to marykpb

    ';And the main reason why people in Ireland have such a dislike to ' foreigners', is because every second Irish person knows one, and we all know what most of them are up to.';

    What is that supposed to mean? You have contradicted yourself with this statement. You feel you don't want to be put into a category of people who ';dislike foreigners'; but its ok to categorize foreigners as people who you believe get to up bad things - ';we all know what most of them get up to';

    This statement in itself is just lobbing every foreign person in the county into a category!

    I agree with just my opinion. I have lived in Ireland all my life and am currently trying to leave. Irish people are very ignorant (as shown in what I just said above) and hate it when people are smarter or are above average then them. its only acceptable in ireland to be average joe and to work yourself into the ground in a bad job with average wage.

    This is why I want to leave Ireland, because the people are so closed minded and have been brain****ed by the Catholic Church into thinking they have to be nice and average and if your anything more its full on evil!

    Don't come to Ireland. you could live in a tropical paradise and buy a mansion for the same price as living here. Thats what I plan to do.. :) see ya'll in hell.
    ireland is a big place (honestly it is) with much differences from east to west. north to south...

    So we talking Cork, Dublin or somewhere in between ?

    and what are used to... where abouts are you town or near city..

    So people can compare what you know. to what they know.

    great place though, great people...

    and they love Euro's like the rest of europe :)

    And pay for all their carrier bags in tesco's and the like... so bring some free ones with you !!
    Justmyopinion, where are you from and what part of Ireland are you in?

    I find it incredible that you are receiving such treatment. My other half is foreign and he is considered an asset to his employers.
    when you do your shopping bring your own bags, and shop in aldi, lidle or tesco there cheaper than Dunne's or Marks and Spencer's.
    don't live in Dolphins Barn ha ha!
    dont it sucks its to cold :(
    When I arrived in Ireland, I was really socked how impolite are the people and how arrogant towards the foreigners. It gave me a very bad taste the fact they don't know eachother and don't even say hallo...

    The daily life is hard and lonely if you are not Irish. The Irish avoid no natives in their private circles. Dublin (which I suppose it the city you want to go) is a very dangerous and dirty place. Some neighborhoods are great but that's all. There is so much drag dealing crime and racism attacks on daily basis. I am half Greek and half Italian and I have been treated like I was an arab. I know, I made a lot of European friends (French, Germans...) and they all share my opinion so far. I would say don't go but I don't know from what place of America you move I know every state is different, so you may find something completely different or not. I had a lot of American friends, some of them were Hispanics and their daughter received death threats from the other school girls because of the color!!! Others found the Irish very narrow minded. Just type on youtube Ireland and in every video you see check the comments below. Don't be schocked. In every single video the denounce immigration and the worst there is no other voice to stop them. In fact there cannot be other voice as in Ireland anti racism organizations don't exist.

    Every Irish person I met, he/she didn't hesitate to express a dislikable feeling about immigration like ';Blame the foreigners not the Irish'; or ';I don't like the foreigners because they are taking our jobs';, ';Immigration is the worst problems in Ireland';, ';I am happy we us Irish made you feel so uncomfortable here. This is what we like to do to alienate people in order to leave our country';... Another lady in my x-work place ';I hate London, is full of foreigners today. That's the only problem we have with the English today. They bring us more immigrants'; and that from a person who lived both in New York and London. You can maybe search in forums to see how racists they are... There is a racist forum where those buffons exchange their sick ideas and there is a section only for the Irish...

    Some would say, the Irish have no epxerience in inward immigration. I think this is not an excuse at all. It's in their blood to be racists and I know other countries with less years of immigration and they get on much better. And maybe they forgot the Irish disapora is 10 times the size of the country in the map. That explains how false is the myth about the Irish hospitality! Only the Irish say that, the 80pc of the foreigners would agree that Ireland is a very racist country.

    I am sure no Irish person would like to see that here but this is the truth they cannot accept. Some Irish are nice but their attitude is very anti-social. Communication and hunman touch in something unknown in Ireland.

    Flat rentals.... the most expensive market in Europe. Minimum wage about 1300 euro and a flat with 1000... unless you want to share with other flatmates but I am sure you don't want to leave your country to live like an immigrant in USA 50 years before...

    Driving... I don't drive so I can't tell you but have in mind here they drive from the other side and everything is smaller.

    Shoping... Find a good ISP that allows you more than 5Gb download per week and then you will have the chance to find everything.

    Why is it easy to give advice to the other people, while I can't solve the problems of my own?

    I love giving warm advice to the others, like when someone is suffering from the depression or just broke up with loved ones.

    But why can't I do it to myself? Very often, I feel so easily devastated and feel like there is no way to solve the problems.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you.Why is it easy to give advice to the other people, while I can't solve the problems of my own?
    because with other people you have the comfort of knowing that their problems arent yours. you're just a spectator. but when its your own problem, you want other peoples advice because they have an outsider's point of view. trust me, i have the same problem!Why is it easy to give advice to the other people, while I can't solve the problems of my own?
    In my own experiance supporting others in a time of need is the right thing to do. However in recent times when things have gone very bad I could not confide in others. I have recently relised that by always being there for others takes the focus off of my own personal issues. By filling my waking hours with others well being it was easy to ignore my own needs untill they demand my attention. I find writing my problems down in a note book helps me to clarify what I need to look at. I personal find my head buzzes at night when I am trying to sleep, so that's when I use a notebook. It is full of complete rubbish however if I notice something reoccuring than I know it needs looking at. And most important take sometime out for yourself. If you don't look out for yourself who eles will????

    Keep smiling you will find what you are looking for as long as you give yourself the time.
    by looking at their problem from an outside point of view you don't see the significance of all the little intricacies which make the problem unresolveable to that person.
    It can be maddening. But it is easy to help others but very difficult to help yourself. I think that because you know yourself more than anyone it is difficult to help yourself because you can see the flaw in the plan. Since you don't know about the person you are giving advice to it is easy because you don't see the flaw. But nothing is impossible. There is always a way to help yourself. Keep trying.
    your personality is of a giver. Not a taker. So,when things are not right, you tend to try to solve it yourself. Sometimes its good to have someone to lean on in times of distress. Sometimes warm fuzzy kind answers are not going to help any. Why so devastated?
    Because you are to close to yourself to give an objective answer. Outside perspective gives you clarity that allows you to give someone else better advise.
    Are you sure you aren't my soul twin, i find the exact same thing. I find it very easy to console others and figure out their problems but my own always get to me. I think its just the type of person we are, we are very giving to others and it is that trait that motivates us to work out their problems for them, but when we have our own problems we don't know how to deal with it so it gets us down. I hope you aren't having any problems yourself right now or you wouldn't be asking this question would you?
    There are various reason. The most obvious to me is that we have better control of our emotions when it is not our problem.

    Why let yourself feel divested? What is your answer to this question?

    I could give you my answer but I'm sure yours is just as good, maybe better.
    All problems can be solved somehow,maybe you have no empathy for yourself. If your friends need you for help,why not go to them for the same? If they are real friends and not just people that drain you. Sounds like you are fragile and depressed,call a Mental Health Clinic and get some objective help,or at least someone YOU can confide in. Some persons who are ';The Rock of Gibraltar'; need to have help too, and even rocks can crumble.
    When you give advise your looking at the problem from a outside perspective, when its your problem you constantly contradict your self.
    because actions have and always will speak louder then wards
