Any advice for people who have a tendency to beat themselves up for stupid reasons?

For example, I'll be at the gym or something and do something stupid in front of someone and then think about it for the next three days or i'll be at a party and say something stupid to someone and thing about it for three days. I know that it really doesn't make any difference and i probably shouldn't give a **** but sometimes i just can't help it.Any advice for people who have a tendency to beat themselves up for stupid reasons?
I know, noone can help it. Just repeat to yourself ';it will all be OK'; and try to forget about it. That's all you can do.Any advice for people who have a tendency to beat themselves up for stupid reasons?
I used to have this problem. It's just a mild case of anxiety. With most people, just think, who cares? You might not even see them again.

I'm not saying this is like you, but my problem sometimes was when someone said something I'd think ';oh he's dumb';. Not because he/she really was just because of my own insecurities. And by thinking that way about other people it made me think everyone was like me and thought like that whenever I did something I thought was stupid.

Honestly, you are usually awake 12 hours of the day, you saying or doing something silly won't make that much of an impact on someone. You're just a little anxious, loosen up, try to relax. I'd say try to find a hobby that helps you relax to clear your mind from these things.

It's normal to be anxious in gyms, and just think, those people at parties are probably usually too drunk to know what's going on anyway. Don't stress the small stuff. I'm sure you do more great things than ';stupid'; things.
I do that exact same thing. I take every little stupid and embarrassing thing I say and over analyze it completely. I also beat my self up to. I guess my advice to remember should be that you just have to remember that you are the only one beating yourself up and that this person probably won't even remember the stupid thing you said 5 minutes later. They remember the important and interesting stuff you said not the stupid. And just remind yourself to let it go and focus on something else.
None of us is perfect, and we understand that the older we get and just learn to accept it. Once we accept it and don't worry about it so much we have more self esteem and feel better about ourselves and our lives. If anyone out there complains about something stupid you did, I'm sure they have done something just as equally stupid, but wont admit to it! Who in this world really is perfect? NO ONE!! Your are just as good as the next person, YOU just have to believe that!
