I'm thinking about doing a semester or summer abroad my junior year in high school. I'm not sure what country yet, but I have it narrowed down to Spain or Italy.Does anyone have advice for young people who are considering exchange programs?
Hi!
Your junior year is the BEST year to go! However, you should seriously consider a year (or at least a semester) to get all the benefits of culture and language immersion.
The program you pick is very important. Make sure it's CSIET listed or you will possibly have troubles getting your credits when you get home. You can get a full listing of those programs at www.csiet.org. You should also check with your school counselor for a recommendation as an organization is only as good as its local representatives.
For lots more advice -- from the people who have ';been there, done that and bought the T-shirt'; go to http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/
It's written by exchange students for those considering the experience or those on an exchange needing help and advice.
Good luck!Does anyone have advice for young people who are considering exchange programs?
why do u want that and when are u going to do that
Depending on the exchange program, telling the organization a wide variety of countries will help. they don't want someone who is picky. they want someone who is adventuresome and who is willing to try new things. Do not narrow down your country list. (you can narrow some of them down...but try to only narrow if you REALLY don't want to go)
