Getting my nose pierced-would like some advice from people with experience?

I am getting a stud on the left side this saturday. i've never had a piercing before so i am not quite sure what to expect. I would love some personal accounts so i can be a little more prepared? Thanks!Getting my nose pierced-would like some advice from people with experience?
Yeah, it definitely hurts and makes your eyes water as its pierced. Thats my only peircing (other than ears) and I don't remember it taking very long to heal or being unusually painful during the healing process. But I love it and I've had it over 10 years.

I'm certainly not a wuss, have 5 tattoos, its just a painful spot, lots of nerve endings.

Enjoy it!Getting my nose pierced-would like some advice from people with experience?
They stick a cork in the nostril or use a steel receiving tube to keep from poking the septum. Mine piercer used a steel receiving tube and then placed a sterile rubber cork in the end of the needle while she prepared the jewelry, but I was started with a CBR rather than a custom bent screw.

On a scale from 1-10, for me, getting my nostril pierced was around a 3 or 4. And my ears did water. Mine is a few months old now and it still has its moments where it will get pissy on me and get sore. It's not an easy piercing to take care of.

Before you get it pierced, try and find a canister of non-iodized sea salt and buy a gallon jug of distilled water. You'll need them for your sea salt soaks.
In my oppinion, my nose piercing didn't hurt at all. Im the kind of person that gets weak and feels faint when I get my blood work taken, so thats saying something. Its mostly just a sharp pain that lasts for the most of 5 seconds. Theres a pretty good chance that your eyes will water, possibly start to tear up, but thats going to happen whether you think it hurts or not, because its an automatic reaction.

Getting the piercing is the least of your worries, what you have to worry about the most is keeping it clean and away from infections. Ask your piercer what soaps/products you should use to clean your piercing, how long to clean it for, and how often. Whatever you do, do not over clean the piercing, or not clean it enough. Either of these things can cause irritation to the skin and cause infections in the piercing. This has happened to me when I had my piercing a year ago. I cleaned it with ';Dragon Fly spray'; which I bought from the piercing studio. The piercer told me to clean it every night before going to sleep, just one spray. What I did was clean my piercing about 3 times a day, way too often, and then I got it a little sore. So watch out, and definitely listen to what your piercer has to say.

Another little tip.. The piercing takes about three months or more to completely heal. For atleast the first three to four weeks, i reccomend that you wear a bandaid or something to prevent your piercing from falling out in the night times. Studs are VERY easy to come out of the nose , expecially when it isn't completely healed. One of my friends went to sleep about a week after getting her nose pierced, and it fell out and was grown over by the time she woke up in the morning. They can grow over in about two hours, so be careful of that.

Have fun with your piercing, they are really cute! Just remember , if you want your piercing for a long time, keep it clean and sanitary. Hope I helped you out :)
I did mine myself, and if didnt really hurt, but it will forsure make your eyes water, it always does. But the pain only last about 3 short seconds, and it over, it is not a painful healing process, just keep its clean. Use, a cup of water and a tbs of uniodized sea salt water. Works the best%26lt;3
does not hurt really. it is just a pain in the butt to keep clean...especially during cold and flu season....you do not want to wear a back during that time of year...good luck getting it off. just keep it clean and you should be fine. just remember not a lot of places will hire you with that in...i had to get rid of mine because of that...i miss it so much :(
It's the most painful piercing in the world.

They stick a cork in your nose and then pierce through your nostril into that. Pretty uncomfortable. And make sure you keep it clean and don't put any makeup on around it, mine was infected for awhile after I got it because of that.

Good luck.
I don't know what these people are talking about! The cork thing isn't right. A good piercer will be piercing with a hollow needle, probably ';threaded'; to the jewelry to be put in. It will definitely make your eyes water. Its all connected so its natural. Its not much worse than a cartilage piercing (although you mentioned this is your first piercing). I have both sides of my nose done with a stud in each. The will probably put in what is called a nose screw, which is shaped like and L with the gem on the tip of the L. Try not to touch it or get it caught on anything (like towels when drying your face) Any pulling will irritate it and cause you to get a pretty ugly red bump on the edge around the piercing. This is normal but hard to get rid of. Don't pick at it and if the curve on the bottom of the screw tends to turn downwards and stick out of your nostril, only turn it when you have washed your hands first. Also, once it has healed (beforehand if the L shape just will not heal and is constantly irritated) change the piercing to a nose bone, which is a straight bar that you will barely even notice
It hurts and may make your eyes water. Its kind of like when you accidentally pull a nose hair or something, only worse. The last layer on the innermost part of your nose is the hardest or it was for me, a tear jerker to say the least. It took mine forever to heal.
