College jitters - any advice from people who have been there?

I am from small town America moving to New York City. Has anyone ever done this (for work or college) or something similar, and what was it like? How did you get through it?College jitters - any advice from people who have been there?
It'll be a huge change, but I met some of the best people in my life from college. My wife, and my closest friends I met from the dorms and classes in college.

Go in there with an open mind and a huge smile and you'll fit in great!College jitters - any advice from people who have been there?
Wow, that is a really big jump. I moved from Moore, OK (right near OKC) to Berkeley for college. It was really scary at first, but mostly I was excited. All the nerves wore off by the second week and I found it wasn't that different, other than the people were less stupid and the food was better. I couldn't tell you how to deal with moving from a small town to NYC though...I've never even been there but I'm sure I was be scared. I get lost in SF so I can only imagine what that would be like.
You will survive, just don't give up.

You never want to put college off. If you are having problems adjusting, remember that you may be able to get free assistance with counseling on campus...

Good luck.....
If you are staying on campus, take every chance to attend the social activities. Meeting people who are staying there as well helps heaps when it comes to settling and how the place runs.
