Ring the council first. They may not charge in certain circumstances, and will probably be cheaper even if they do.

Just go and buy a mouse trap. Raisins and sultanas are good bait because you can squish them onto the bait holder. Remember if you get a mouse AND the bait is gone, you have another mouse
Edit you can empty the trap by holding it over the loo and opening it, then flush it. You don't have to touch the thing, wear marigolds if you must
if you don't want to touch the mice there are these traps almost like traps hunters use but really small. you can get them at walmart. and you just put some food in there, we caught alot with peanut butter and ritz crackers. they crawl in and cat get out. then you just take them to a place away from your house, you don't want them finding their way back, and set them free.
you also don't feel bad for killing the cute little mice.
don't kill it, it has feelings and mice traps are not humane. there have been a number of times when my mum or friends and stuff had a mouse in a trap that had only got it leg or tail or half it face trapped and then had to suffer until they found it. my cousin and i even found a baby one in a trap that is completey coverd and instead of it neck getting traped it got stuck inside and suffocatedd :(
Get a life trap and caught him them take him somewhere safe to realease him.
