Why do some people give unsolicited advice?

I have a co-worker that is very focused on my work and how it could be done better in their opinion. I do not think that they know what they are doing and do NOT want their advice. Why do some people give unsolicited advice?
because they want to and you haven't given them enough indication that you don't want or value their opinion. Why do some people give unsolicited advice?
Because they have the character defects of bossiness and nosiness, and because they have nothing better to do. Some people only feel good when they feel superior or dominant over others. It is probably an addiction to control.

well if people think they are intelligent %26amp; hv good ideas, they may think it beneficial to spread their opinions. after all, you can take it or leave it. some unsolicited advice may be very useful to people. I have always been grateful for advice not asked for - it may be just what i need, even if its not what I wanted to hear. sometimes hurtful advice can be good for us! .
Because they're trying to be helpful. My mother gives unsolicited advice, all the time, to anyone. Its partly because she's trying to be helpful, and thinks she knows a better way for them to do what theyre doing, and it's partly because she thinks she knows more than them about what theyre doing, so she wants to enlighten them.
